Him
Red, juicy and luscious, the color of her lips could only be described as ripe. He had no idea they contained a tongue sharp as a knife.
“How are you today?”, he smiled. Awaiting her reply, he watched those lips… the lips he longed to kiss. In a flash his mind twirled from kissing to touching to the throes of passion… He saw a life with her. Children. Growing old together. Was this love as first sight or lust gone wild?
He must look ridiculous to her, standing there on the sidewalk gawking and drooling like a fool. Fearful his thoughts were projecting for all to see, he snapped out of his daydream and realized she had yet to respond to his greeting.
Her
She sauntered down the sidewalk, keenly aware of every head turned. Yes she looked good, and she knew it —but did they have to gawk? She loved peacocking —as they say— but surely none would get the time of day.
“Look at this guy… Oh no he’s going to talk to me. Do I respond? Smile? Walk by and pretend I didn’t hear? Why is he just standing there staring at me? I better say something before he slips into a coma.”
She paused at his simple question, looked him up and down and said out loud, “Not if you were the only man on earth.” Her heels clicked on the sidewalk as she walked on muttering to herself, purse dangling from her elbow.
He stood alone on the sidewalk and heard his heart break. How could someone so beautiful be so ugly?
Truth. And she will eventually wonder why she is never happy.
