More than just a beverage, coffee is. . . A morning routine. Time together. Nurturing relationships. Meeting friends. Socializing. Business meetings. People and ideas coming together.
Coffee stimulates and unites, igniting our brains, sparking our creativity. People often come together over a fondness for the dark, creamy (or not), sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter, always rejuvenating beverage.
We ask, “Want to grab a coffee?” Not to nourish our bodies, but our minds, our souls, our connections.
Coffee is a way of life and the practice is different in different parts of the world.
Tea feels more relaxing and less energizing than coffee. Tea is to be enjoyed alone, more so than coffee. Though we still come together to enjoy the aroma, flavors and each other. I think of family time when I think of tea. Playing cards, raucous conversation and lots of laughs.
Tea is diplomacy. Coffee is brainstorming. Tea is delivering/receiving difficult news. Coffee is developing a plan. Tea is sleepy time, reading a book or cozying up in front of a fire. Coffee is running errands, discussing business or motivating a group to interact.
Both are daily drinks for me, with different intents and purposes. Both I cannot imagine a day without.
So… would you like to grab a cup of coffee, or have some tea?
My preference would be coffee before noon and then tea anytime after that. But always something warm is the ticket.
